چکیده

In this work the possible role that Decoherence Model could play in the emergence of the classical concept of time is analyzed. We take the case of a Mixmaster universe with small anisotropy and construct its Halliwell propaga-tor. Afterwards we introduce in our system terms that comprise the effects of Decoherence Model. This is done by means of the so called Restricted Path Integral Formalism. We obtain Halliwell's modified propagator and find that a gauge invariant physical time emerges as consequence of this process.

It has been claimed that decoherence of open quantum systems explains the tendency of macroscopic systems to exhibit quasiclassical behavior. We show that quasiclassicality is in fact an unremarkable property, characterizing generic subsystems of environments even in the absence of dynamical decoherence. It is suggested that decoherence is best regarded as explaining the persistence of true cla...

We point out a close physical and formal similarity between the problems of electron tunneling in the effective environment and the weak localization effects in the presence of interactions. In both cases the results are expressed in terms of the " energy probability distribution function " P (E) which has a finite width even at T = 0 due to interactions.

It is shown that the application of Lax-Phillips scattering theory to quantum mechanics provides a natural framework for the realization of the ideas of the Many-Hilbert-Space theory of Machida and Namiki to describe the development of decoherence in the process of measurement. We show that if the quantum mechanical evolution is pointwise in time, then decoherence occurs only if the Hamiltonian...

Statistical mechanical concepts and processes such as decoherence, correlation, and dissipation can prove to be of basic importance to understanding some fundamental issues of quantum cosmology and theoretical physics such as the choice of initial states, quantum to classical transition and the emergence of time. Here we summarize our effort in 1) constructing a unified theoretical framework us...

This paper is concerned with two questions in the decoherent histories approach to quantum mechanics: the emergence of approximate classical predictability, and the fluctuations about it necessitated by the uncertainty principle. It is in part a continuation of an earlier paper on the uncertainty principle for quantum-mechanical histories. We consider histories characterized by position samplin...
